Workspace Admins and Owners can quickly copy a custom field from a top-level workspace to one or more sub-workspaces, saving time and keeping configurations consistent.
Note
Custom fields that use a data blend or custom data import as a source cannot be copied.
Instructions
- Go to your top-level workspace.
- Go to Custom fields from the left-hand navigation menu.
- Find the custom field you'd like to reuse in other workspaces.
- Click the 3-dot menu next to the custom field, and select Copy to other workspaces. Note that you must have edit permissions (Owner or Admin role) in this workspace to see the copy option.
- In the copy flow:
- You'll see the custom field setup. You can make changes here if you need to, they won't apply to the original custom field. Click Next to continue.
- The name and description will be pre-filled from the original field.
- Select one or more sub-workspaces to copy the field to.
- If any target workspaces already have a field with the same name, you'll see a list of those workspaces. You can choose to:
- Rename the field before copying
- Skip those workspaces
- Click Copy to complete the duplication. You’ll get a confirmation message showing the workspaces that have the field now.
The custom field will appear immediately in each selected workspace.
Note that the copied fields are independent, with no sync with the original custom field.
- The changes made in the copied custom field won't be reflected in the original field.
- The changes made in the original custom field won't be reflected in the fields copied to sub-workspaces.
Once saved, the copied custom fields are ready to use in queries, reports, and other workspace features.
Notes
- Fields with Data blends or Custom data import as a data source are not supported at the moment.
- Copying from sub-workspace to sub-workspace is not possible. Please contact your Customer Success Manager to let us know if this is a critical functionality for you.
FAQ
Q: Can I copy a field from a sub-workspace to another sub-workspace?
Not at this time. Field copying must be initiated from the top-level workspace.
Q: What happens if a field already exists in the target workspace?
You’ll be prompted to rename the new field or skip that workspace.
Q: Will changes to the original field affect the copies?
No. Duplicated fields are completely independent from the original.
