Facebook Public Data: Connection guide

This guide will walk you through how to connect Facebook Public Data with Google Sheets, Google Data Studio, and Microsoft Excel, as well as data warehouse destinations like Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and the Supermetrics API. 

Before you begin

The Facebook Public Data connector doesn’t require you to log in to a specific account. This means there are no access requirements for this data source. Use it to collect publicly available data about Pages and Page posts.

Query types 

  • Facebook Page data: Gathers data about the page itself, like Likes, About, and the website link.
  • Facebook posts by a Page: Gathers data about posts made to the Page, such as Post link, Reaction counts, and Comment counts.
  • Facebook shares for URLs: Gathers data about specific shared URLs, such as URL, Share count, and Comment count.

Google Sheets Data Studio  Excel Data integrations
Before you can authenticate the data source in Google Sheets, you need to install the Supermetrics add-on.
  1. Open a new Google Sheets file. 
  2. Navigate to ExtensionsSupermetricsLaunch to open the Supermetrics sidebar.
  3. Under Data source, select Facebook Public Data
  4. Navigate to Report Configuration.
  5. Under Query type, select the query type.
  6. Under Facebook Page aliasas/IDs, insert page names or IDs.
  7. Translate to is an additional option.
