Tripadvisor Reviews report building guide

Use the Tripadvisor Reviews data source connector to check how many reviews and what kind of ratings a destination on Tripadvisor has received and analyze the reviews and ratings over time. Perform competitor analysis and benchmarking by comparing reviews and ratings.

Query types for this data source

With the Tripadvisor Reviews data source in Looker Studio, you must select a query type to use. The query type defines what sort of metrics and dimensions are available. 

  • Reviews: View up to 100 of the most recent reviews.

See ratings and review content

Explore the ratings and reviews along with the review date, text, and link to the review.


For best results in Looker Studio, use the table chart type.

  1. Select the Review date, Rating, Text, and Link to review dimensions.


See average rating

Keep track of the average rating. We also include the number of reviews in the data. 


The "Average rating" metric shows the average rating of the reviews.

The "Number of reviews" metric shows the number of reviews.


For best results in Looker Studio, use the table chart type.


  1. Select the Average rating and Reviews metrics.


See monthly average ratings

Take a look at how your average rating has evolved over time. In this example, we take a look at the data at the monthly level.


The "Average rating" metric shows the average rating of the reviews.

The "Number of reviews" metric shows the number of reviews.


For best results in Looker Studio, use the time series chart type.

  1. Select the Average rating and Reviews metrics.
  2. Select the Year & Month dimension to split the query results by year and month.


See reviews by language

View how in how many languages the reviews have been given. In this example, we pull data on how many reviews have been given each month and in which language.


The "Average rating" metric shows the average rating of the reviews.

The "Number of reviews" metric shows the number of reviews.


For best results in Looker Studio, use the table chart type.

  1. Select the Average rating and Reviews metrics.
  2. Select the Year & Month and Review language dimensions to split the query results by language.
