Follow these steps to connect your Matomo data to Supermetrics.

Before you begin
To connect your Matomo account to Supermetrics, you need your Matomo base URL and your authentication token.
- Log in to Matomo, and open your dashboard.
- Take a look at the URL in your address bar.
- Copy the first part of the URL. This is your Base URL to use for login: https://yourcompany.matomo.cloud/
- Log in to Matomo, and open your dashboard.
- On the upper right-hand side, click the cogwheel icon to get to the Administration page.
- On the left-hand side, under Personal, click Security.
- Scroll down to the Auth tokens section and click Create new token.
- Enter your password to continue.
- Enter a description for the token, for example, “Supermetrics”.
- Click Create token.
- Copy the token and store it in a secure place for later.
Query types
Set up your Matomo queries using any of the query types described below.
- Visitor overview: Engagement metrics for the whole website.
- Visitor devices: Engagement metrics by device type.
- Visitor locations: Engagement metrics by country.
- Visitor language: Engagement metrics by web browser language.
- Pages: Engagement metrics by specific website pages.
- Channels: Acquisition and engagement metrics by channel type.
- Referrers: Acquisition and engagement metrics by specific referrers.
- Campaigns: Acquisition and engagement metrics by campaigns.
- Campaign keywords: Acquisition and engagement metrics by keywords used in campaigns.
- Search engines: Acquisition and engagement metrics by search engine.
- Search keywords: Acquisition and engagement metrics by search keywords.
- Ecommerce overview: Overall ecommerce sales for the whole website.
- Ecommerce products: Ecommerce sales by specific products.
Instructions
Make sure you've installed the Supermetrics add-on before you connect.
- Open a new Google Sheets file.
- Navigate to Extensions → Supermetrics → Launch sidebar to open Supermetrics.
- Click Create new query.
- Under Data source, select Matomo.
- Enter your Base URL and Auth token.
- Enter a name for your account for you to identify it later.
- Click Start.

Make sure you've connected Supermetrics to Looker Studio before following the steps below.
- Open the Supermetrics Looker Studio data source gallery.
- Navigate to Matomo and click Start free trial.
- You'll see two buttons that read Authorize. If you're using Supermetrics for the first time, click the left-hand one and log in with the Google Account you use with Supermetrics.
- Once that's done, or if you've done it before, click the right-hand Authorize button (under "Matomo requires authorization to connect to data").
- Select a team that has access to the account you want to connect.
- Choose to make this connection shared or private.
- Enter your Base URL and Auth token.
- Enter a name for the account for you to identify it later.
- Click Start.
- Select the accounts you'd like to include in your reporting.
- Select the query type you want to fetch data for.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page. To create a report with our template, select Use report template for new reports. To create a blank report, deselect this option.
- In the pane's top right, click Connect.
- Click Create report.
- Click Add to report.

- Open an Excel file.
- Click Data → Show Supermetrics.
- Under Data source, select Matomo.
- Choose to make this connection shared or private.
- Enter your Base URL and Auth token.
- Enter a name for your account for you to identify it later.
- Click Start.
