Google data sources: Query setup guide

This guide will walk you through how to set up queries in Google data sources across all of Supermetrics' destinations.


Before you begin

To connect Supermetrics with Google's data sources, you need to meet these access requirements:


Google Ads

A Google Ads or MCC account with Read Only access. Learn how to grant access to Google Ads account or manage accounts

Google Ad Manager

A Google Ad Manager account with at least Trafficker role. API access must be explicitly enabled by the administrator. Learn about role permissions and how to manage user roles, and how to enable API access

Google AdSense

A Google AdSense account with at least the Admin user role. Learn how to manage user access to your AdSense account.

Google Analytics & Google Analytics 4

A Google Analytics account with at least Read & Analyze access to a Property and Views underneath. Learn more about user permissions and how to add users.

Google BigQuery

An account with BigQuery Data Viewer and BigQuery User role levels for the dataset, and at least the BigQuery User role level for the Project.

Google Campaign Manager 360
Google Display & Video 360

A Google Display & Video 360 account with at least the Standard or Admin user role. Learn how to manage user access.

Google My Business

A Google Account with at least the Owner or Manager user role. Learn how to add and remove Owners and Managers.

Google Search Ads 360

A Google Search Ads 360 account with at least an Agency Manager or Advertiser Manager role. Learn how to add or remove users.

Google Search Console

A valid Google Search Console account with Verified Owner or Delegated Owner access. You'll also need to verify your site ownership.


Available fields

Visit our documentation site for a full list of the metrics and dimensions Supermetrics can pull from the data source. The data source names are listed on the left side of the page. 

  • Field label is the name that appears in the sidebar. 
  • Metrics can be found under type - “met”.
  • Dimensions can be found under type - “dim” .


Instructions

Google Sheets Data Studio Excel Data integrations
  1. Authenticate the data source in Google Sheets. 
  2. Select Dates. Choose one date range (today, yesterday, last week, etc.). To select a custom date, you can insert the date manually in the Start and End fields in the calendar bar.
  3. Select Metrics
  4. Select Split by Dimensions. You can choose to split your data into rows and/or columns, reflect the number of rows or columns to be fetched, and define how the data is sorted.
  5. Click Get Data to Table to create your query and pull your data.



Advanced options for Google Sheets

  1. You can filter your data by selecting the field, operator, and value to filter by. Learn more about filters.
  2. Under Options, you can add additional features to your query.
  • Replace blank metric values with zeros.
  • Combine new results with old.
  • Format results for Data Studio (to import data from Google Sheets to Data Studio).
  • No header row.
  • Highlight values with colours (green, red, etc.).
  • Advanced settings.
