Facebook Insights: Authentication and reauthentication guide

This guide will walk you through how to authenticate or reauthenticate Facebook Insights with Google Sheets, Data Studio, and Microsoft Excel, as well as data warehouse destinations like Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and the Supermetrics API. 


Before you begin

To connect Supermetrics to Facebook Insights, you need:

  • Administrator access to a specific Page, or if connected with Business Manager, at least a Page Editor access to a Page.
  • If you’re using New Pages Experience, you must have partial access to the linked Facebook Page.

Visit Facebook’s help center to learn more about adding permissions to a Page and adding users to a Page in Business Manager.

Google Sheets Data Studio  Excel Data integrations
Before you can authenticate the data source in Google Sheets, you need to install the Supermetrics add-on.
  1. Open a new Google Sheets file. 
  2. Click Add-ons → Supermetrics → Launch to open the sidebar.
  3. Under Data source, select Facebook Insights.
  4. Click Start.
  5. A Facebook login page will open. Enter your credentials and click Log in. (If you're already logged in to Facebook, click Continue with Facebook.) 
  6. Click Continue as to authenticate with that user account.
  7. Hand-pick your Pages and click Next.
  8. Click Done
  9. Click Ok to complete the authentication steps.
  10. Under Select Pages, select the Pages.
