How to reauthenticate a data source connection in Google Sheets, Looker Studio, Excel, Power BI, and Supermetrics Hub

Sometimes, your connection to a data source times out, or your connection needs to be renewed for another reason.

Reauthenticating can solve these errors, among others:

  • Error: Invalid credentials

  • Authentication failed

Follow these steps to reauthenticate the data source connection.

Instructions

You can renew the connection to your data source on the Supermetrics Hub. The connection will also be updated in the destinations you're using.

  1. Go to the Data sources page on the Hub.
  2. Click the data source you need to authenticate and find the connection to reauthenticate.
  3. Click the reconnect icon () at the end of the row.
  4. Follow the data source-specific instructions to connect to the data source.

Take a look at this support article for more instructions on how to manage data source connections on the Hub.

You can also reconnect to your data source from your data destination. Follow the instructions below.

Google Sheets

  1. Open a Google Sheets file.
  2. Click Extensions → Supermetrics → Launch to open the sidebar.
  3. Go to the Queries tab.
  4. Select a query that uses the data source you want to reauthenticate from the sidebar. Click the 3-dot menu next to its name.
  5. Click Manage data source connection.
  6. In the data source list, click the chevron next to the data source's name.
  7. Click + Add connection.
  8. Authenticate the data source again.

Updating one query will refresh all queries using the same token.

If you're using an older version of the Supermetrics sidebar, skip step 3. Instead, just select the data source from the sidebar and then follow steps 6 through 8.
