Moz: Authentication guide

This guide will walk you through how to authenticate or reauthenticate Moz with Supermetrics for Google Sheets and Data Studio.

Before you begin

Moz allows you to collect publicly available search engine data. To fetch more than 200 rows of data with it, you’ll need to use your own API credentials

Query types

  • URL metrics returns metrics for up to 50 URLs.
  • Link metrics returns information about links between a target URL and other pages and domains.

Instructions

Google Sheets Data Studio
Before you can authenticate the data source in Google Sheets, you need to install the Supermetrics add-on.
  1. Open a new Google Sheets file.
  2. Navigate to ExtensionsSupermetricsLaunch to open the Supermetrics sidebar.
  3. Under Data source, select Moz.
  4. Click Start.
  5. Navigate to Report Configuration.
  6. Select the query type.
  7. Add URLs to the Type URL field. Separate multiple URLs with commas and no whitespace (,).

Troubleshooting

  • If you encounter an authentication error such as “authentication failed”, “you need to reauthenticate” or similar, see this guide
  • If you encounter a permission error such as “user permission denied” or similar, follow this guide.
