Searchmetrics: Authentication and reauthentication guide

This guide will walk you through how to authenticate or reauthenticate Searchmetrics with Google Sheets, Data Studio, and Excel, as well as data warehouse destinations like Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and the Supermetrics API. 

Before you begin

To connect Supermetrics to Searchmetrics, you need:

  • A valid Searchmetrics account with export credits available to make requests with.

Each request using these keys will cost export credits from your account to make the API call, even when just testing queries. Best practice is to make your test queries small until you're sure it works, so you use up minimal credits. Learn more about this in Searchmetrics' API documentation.

Get your API key and API secret

  1. Follow the instructions in the Getting started section to generate your API key and API secret
  2. Save these credentials, as you will need them when connecting Searchmetrics to Supermetrics.

Google Sheets Data Studio  Excel Data integrations
Before you can authenticate the data source in Google Sheets, you need to install the Supermetrics add-on.
  1. Open a new Google Sheets file. 
  2. Click Add-ons → Supermetrics → Launch to open the sidebar.
  3. Under Data source, select the data source.
  4. Enter your API key and API secret, and click Start.  
  5. Navigate to Report configuration.
  6. Under Query type, select the query type.
  7. Type URL(s), separated with commas or new lines. 
  8. Under Searchmetrics country, select the country.
