Facebook Public Data: Query setup guide

Once you’ve authenticated your connection to Facebook Public Data, you’re ready to create your first query.

This guide will walk you through Facebook Public Data query setup for Google Sheets, Data Studio, and Excel, as well as data warehouse destinations like Google Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and the Supermetrics API.

Before you begin

The Facebook Public Data connector doesn’t require you to log in to a specific account. This means there are no access requirements for this data source. Use it to collect publicly available data about Pages and Page posts.

Troubleshooting

Query runs very slowly

The more pages you try pull or the more rows, the slower the query will run gets. This is due to speed in the API behind the data. Try reducing the number of rows to below 300, or limit the number of pages listed. Learn more about optimizing your queries.

Query missing results

Facebook Public Data fetches a maximum of 600 rows of post data. This is due to the post feed limitation in the graph API. Data may also go missing if you have too many pages selected and a high row count. To avoid this, reduce the row limit and the number of pages being fetched.

No data over time

The current version of the API only shows lifetime totals for most metrics, and you won't be able to report changes over time unless you use the "Combine new with old" feature in Google Sheets. If you need time breakdowns, consider using the Facebook Insights connector instead.

Page name is correct, but still getting "No data"
